Experienced Frontend Engineer with an Eye for Architecture
We are building something fresh from the ground up! Our Frontend Architecture team is at the heart of designing and delivering the technical architecture that powers a seamless, omnichannel customer experience for millions of OP Financial Group’s customers. We are now looking for an experienced Frontend Engineer to build the future of OP’s Omnichannel Customer Experience.
We are a small and growing agile team making a big impact: We currently have a Lead Developer, a Product Owner and two Senior Developers but we need one more experienced Frontend Engineer to get things moving.
The position is based in Helsinki but our remote work policy is flexible within the borders of Finland.
Here's what you'll be getting your hands on:
- Architecting and implementing the technical framework for the next generation of op.fi.
- Building an omnichannel API architecture in Azure, laying the groundwork for true omnichannel development across op.fi, OP Mobile as well as our partner and employee channels.
- Planning and implementing the interim architectural phases that are necessary to achieve the end goal.
But it's not just about the tech. Our team is tasked with figuring out how to organize and structure development across all of OP Financial Group to make omnichannel development a reality. Some serious planning, strategy, and elbow grease will be needed.
Success, in a nutshell, means crafting a web frontend and channel development framework and practices that fit OP Financial Group’s needs, getting the leadership and business teams on board, and rolling them out across the company.
Our team will be one of the driving forces behind this strategic shift—though, of course, we won’t be doing it all by ourselves. We like to think of ourselves as the architects and champions of the solution.
Here are your key goals for the next 1–2 years (in partnership with the team):
- Design and implement the new architecture for op.fi and our omnichannel services.
- Contribute to OP’s competence strategy for frontend and channel development.
- Roll out the new architecture and competence strategy across the company.
What you'll need to succeed:
- You have several years of experience in at least senior developer positions and a track record of empowering a large number of developers to produce great software.
- The experience and insight to understand business needs and translate them into technical enablers.
- A knack for designing operational models to achieve the end goal.
- The ability to sell and execute organizational and process changes on enterprise scale, including:
- Experience in change management as a part of your daily toolkit.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English (working proficiency in Finnish is an advantage).
- Deep technical expertise (both in software architecture and development):
- Thorough understanding of web standards and technologies.
- Quick learner of new programming languages and tools—because the tech world doesn’t sit still.
- Key words: Web Technologies, Modern IAM architecture and OIDC, Event-Driven Architecture, A/B testing, Accessibility, Web Analytics, Design Systems, Microsoft Azure, Implementing custom DevOps tooling
