What is this role about?


We are looking for a new Reliability Engineer to join our Wealth management – tribe. You work in the Data Office -team together with multiple development teams and stakeholders. As the Reliability Engineer, you will also work closely together with our vendors. Your main focus is on our SQL based database which contains large amount of data and number of daily batch jobs and transition to Azure. 


In this role, you will get the chance to navigate in a diverse technological landscape, handling integrations with multiple dependencies across different teams, and managing processes that transcend team boundaries. You will act as the technical expert within the system team and together with the team assume the responsibility for the ongoing development, accessibility, and enhancement of system reliability.

 
In your position, main focus is placed on ensuring the reliability of our production environment, handling vast amount of daily events where incident detection and recovery are crucial. You' will take charge of maintaining operational readiness within production. You will also have the opportunity to influence the technical implementations in the area, and together we will tailor the role according to your expertise. Your key areas of responsibility:

 

  • Participate in planning on cloud transition of our investment- and risk management system.

  • Leverage and implement the use of automated monitoring capabilities. 

  • Simplify the inner logic of the systems.

  • Modernize and plan system integrations and resilience.

  • Set up environments and deployment pipelines of the system and related data.

  • Technical analysis of applications and environments, improving quality in collaboration with other team members

  • Developing and maintaining guidelines and related documentation for production operations.

  • Responsible of active production monitoring and identifying improvement areas arising from production and verifying the implementations. 

  • You will collaborate with the other team members to ensure service accessibility and continuous improvement, acting as the owner from the perspective of production reliability and operations.

  • Ensuring that nonfunctional requirements are implemented according to our practices.

 

This opportunity is available in Helsinki. Like the rest of OP, we work flexibly, combining both office days and remote work.

 

What do we expect from you?


We appreciate if you already have strong experience in the development/management/operations of data warehousing, technical maintenance of production systems, monitoring of software components, and building alerts. Also experience of Application maintenance and operations is important for this role.


Here's a more detailed description of the skills we hope you possess:

 

  • ELT- ja ETL-solutions (e.g. AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Kafka) 

  • Programming (SQL, Python)

  • ITIL

  • Experience of application release and deployment process / DevOps practices

  • Experience of selected monitoring solutions, for example Dynatrace and Splunk 

 

Additionally, experience in the following will be helpful:

 

  • Azure or other public cloud knowledge

  • ServiceNow and Jira experience

 

We also expect you to be capable of working independently, while possessing strong teamwork and communication skills, including collaborating with offshore teams. We wish ability to drive complex development projects. Fluent spoken and written English is a crucial part of our international environment. At least intermediate Finnish is a benefit.
