The trainee period accumulated a wealth of new expertise, experience and working life skills!

At OP, every person, both customer and employee, is valued. This created a good starting point for my trainee period as integration into the work community took place effortlessly. There is a lot to be learned during the trainee period, and the learning process was supported through orientation; however, the best lessons are learned by doing. There have been challenges as well but, fortunately, colleagues have always offered their help.

During my trainee period, I have worked in the expert unit. In an organisation such as this one, everyone has their own area of responsibility that an expert knows the best. Communication between the experts is essential, and I myself have noticed this in my work.

“The best moments of my trainee period have been the ones when you realise that you have genuinely understood something, or when you can see your own work in a finished project.”

I have mainly been responsible for monthly reporting, but I have also had the opportunity to work on a wide range of less regular tasks, such as developing new reports. As my skills have developed, the amount of independent work has increased and, on the other hand, I have also been assigned responsibility for new tasks. It has been nice to see how responsibility is given if you just want it.

Why should you apply to the programme?

The best moments of my trainee period have been the ones when you realise that you have genuinely understood something, or when you can see your own work in a finished project. There have been several of such meaningful moments. I consider the fact that you can learn anything if you just want to learn it the most important lesson of my trainee period.

I will put the skills that I have learned to use in the future. Although the emphasis is often on concrete tasks, I still feel that the greatest lessons have been learned through working life skills. Matters related to communication, in particular, mean a lot, and I will strive to develop these qualities in future work challenges, too.
