Our data centre of excellence in a nutshell

At OP, we have a huge number of data sources and Finland’s largest amount of data capital. This means that our over 200 data-asset experts get to solve big data challenges of a kind that few others ever see. We are a big player in society: topical themes in general, such as ensuring that AI-based decision-making is transparent and ethical, are highlighted in our data work.

Modern technologies

‘We have made extensive investments in our data centre of excellence, but only scratched the surface of the potential benefits. Our solutions have a genuine impact, based on the use of modern tools. Customers are familiar with several solutions that we’ve developed from scratch, such as My financial balance for OP-mobile, Hinta-arviolaskuri (home price estimate calculator) for OP Koti, and our chatbots Opotti and Viljo. We use cloud-based AWS or Databricks for most of our software development, and mainly use PySpark for data processing with ETL tools and analytic functions.

Continuous learning at work

We throw ourselves into our work, but we also have the chance to develop ourselves and learn. Incentives to do so include OP’s 70:20:10 model, which allows us to use 10% of our working time for study and self-development (on OP’s Software Academy courses, for example). As part of a large organisation, we also provide opportunities for continuous learning and internal career progression.
