We are looking for a new Product Owner to join the Development & Technologies organization and work in the Engineering Capabilities Tribe, where we build the forward-looking technical foundation for OP Pohjola’s AI-First strategy. As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for leading an Engineering AI team, shaping our developer-facing AI platform, and delivering high-impact AI capabilities to empower 2,000+ developers and 300+ engineering teams across OP Pohjola.
What is this role about?
In your day-to-day role as a Product Owner, you will lead an Engineering AI team and guide the work of our skilled Software Engineers, AI Engineers, and Platform Specialists. You will drive the roadmap for our Engineering AI Platform and developer capabilities - including AI-native SDLC tools, agentic development workflows, Coding Harness customizations and extensions, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and developer knowledge infrastructure.
You will work closely with D&T and Tribe leadership, Enterprise Architecture, Developer Experience (DevEx), and OP development community to scale AI adoption throughout the software engineering lifecycle.
As part of your role, you will:
- Shape the Product Vision & Roadmap: Define and prioritize the backlog for AI native SDLC AI tooling, balancing quick wins with long-term platform capabilities
- Drive AI-Native SDLC Transformation: Enable development teams across OP to transition to guard railed autonomous agentic workflows, contextual repository enablement, and automated quality gates
- Bridge Tech & Engineering Needs: Partner closely with software architects, lead developers, and security/compliance stakeholders to ensure solutions are secure, compliant, and deliver measurable developer productivity and satisfaction
- Facilitate Discovery & Feedback Loops: Engage directly with OP’s business and software engineering community to uncover bottlenecks and validate platform enhancements through continuous feedback
The position is located in Helsinki or Oulu. In line with OP Pohjola’s ways of working, we offer flexible hybrid work within Finland. In this role, spending a few days a week at our Vallila office in Helsinki (or our Oulu office) will significantly support your daily collaboration with the team and stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Product Owner with a strong background in modern software engineering, developer tooling, and modern AI/agentic architectures. You have proven experience leading technical teams in agile environments and a passion for redefining how software is built using AI.
You excel at translating developer needs into scalable technical solutions, maintaining high architectural standards, and driving products from experimental prototypes to enterprise-wide platform capabilities.
Summary of role-specific competencies we are looking for:
- Product & Agile Leadership: Proven experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager leading software and AI engineering teams in agile environments
- Software Engineering & DevEx Understanding: Deep understanding of modern software delivery lifecycles (SDLC), CI/CD pipelines, repository architecture, and developer tooling
- AI & Agentic Capabilities: Practical familiarity with modern AI paradigms, including agent/coding harnesses, prompt & context engineering, agentic frameworks, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) and knowledge infrastructure
- Stakeholder & Community Engagement: Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to articulate both technical visions and business benefits to engineering teams, architects, and leadership alike
- Architecture & Platform Thinking: Ability to guide platform scalability, maintainability, and enterprise compliance (security, governance, and architectural guardrails)
Beneficial skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure AI Foundry, and GitHub Enterprise / GitHub Copilot ecosystems
- Background as a software developer, DevOps/platform engineer, or technical architect prior to product management
- Experience with internal developer platforms (IDPs), Backstage, or developer tooling ecosystems
- Fluency in English (required); Finnish language skills are considered an asset
