OP Corporate Bank’s Debt Capital Markets team is a leading bond arranger for Finnish corporations providing a wide range of capital markets offerings, including liability management transactions. OP seeks to be at the forefront in offering sustainable financing solutions to its DCM clients, such as green/social and other sustainable bonds. We serve clients in the Nordic region with a focus on corporations and financial institutions.
We are strengthening our business by seeking a motivated Trainee to join OP Corporate Bank’s Debt Capital Markets team in Helsinki, Vallila.
A few words about the job
Working as a Trainee in Debt Capital Markets offers the possibility to observe and experience the whole bond origination process, from market analysis to client marketing and deal execution, as well as interaction with syndicate and our sales and trading platform.
Key responsibilities
Depending on the level of experience, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Play a key role in assisting the execution of capital markets transactions across Corporate/FIG bonds, liability management and sustainable bond structuring
- Be involved in the pitching process, helping to win new business
- Be involved in the execution and pitching of new financing and re-financing deals in coordination with DCM Syndicate, Syndicated Loans and Structured Finance
- Prepare capitalization and bond pricing models in excel to support pitching
- Assist in preparing and developing pitch books, market updates and excel tools
- Prepare bond pricing mechanics for regular updates to clients
- Manage internal processes for deal pitching and executions
- Work closely with DCM Syndicate, Fixed Income Sales and Trading, Credit Research and Legal

You will principally work with Directors, Associate Directors, Associates and Analysts, participating in all client activities (marketing, execution and on-going relationship management and idea generation). You’ll assume responsibility for helping to win new business and managing internal processes for deal execution and internal approvals. You’ll have exposure to a wide range of teams within OP Corporate Bank and Markets, including DCM Syndicate, Sales and Trading, Legal, Structured Finance, Credit Research and Syndicated Loans.
You get to work in a dynamic, demanding and team-focused environment in Debt Capital Markets, with a geographic (Nordic) and Corporate-specific focus.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess or demonstrate the following personal and professional attributes:
- Investment banking or equivalent experience (CorpFin, DCM, ECM, IB, Coverage, etc.)
- Excellent academic credentials
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic understanding of recent capital market trends, sustainable finance and experience using Bloomberg terminal will be seen as an advantage.
