Controller Susanna Komi: "The best part of the Kiitorata program was all the wonderful people who will continue to form an important professional network in the future."

Susanna Komi strongly recommends the Kiitorata program to anyone looking for a challenging, diverse, highly educational, and fun trainee experience.

Hi Susanna! Could you tell us what expectations you had for the Kiitorata program? How did the experience turn out in the end?

I expected challenging, educational tasks where I could apply the theories I learned during my accounting studies and contribute to development projects. The program exceeded my expectations both in terms of the tasks and the overall program, including the events.

What kind of trainee role did you start in – what tasks and projects were you involved in?

I started as a Business Controller Trainee in Corporate Banking. The team's role is to support business management in guiding growth, profitability, and financial position. I handled monthly financial reporting, participated in various competitor and market share analyses, and worked on developing analytical and measurement tools. I was pleasantly surprised by how warmly I was welcomed into the team and given my area of responsibility, just like my colleagues.

What was the best or most memorable part of the Kiitorata program?

The most memorable part of the program was the shared events. We got to meet OP's top management and hear their inspiring career stories, attend company visits, network at after-work events and picnics, participate in a volunteer day, and spend an afternoon at Linnanmäki amusement park.

However, the best part was meeting all the fantastic and incredibly talented people! The contacts and friendships made during this program form an important network for the future, which would not have been possible without this experience.

What message would you send to those considering applying for the Kiitorata program?

I strongly recommend the Kiitorata program and OP as an employer to anyone interested in finance and banking. The trainee program is an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door at Finland's largest financial group, which offers fantastic conditions for future career development. If you want a challenging, diverse, highly educational, and fun experience, I recommend the Kiitorata program. I dare say no one who has joined the program has regretted it.

Please give three tips for new Kiitorata participants!

1. Ask, ask, and ask some more! There are no stupid questions when you're just starting and feeling lost. Everyone is more than happy to help.

2. Always say "YES." Be curious and boldly dive into every project, event, and collaboration opportunity. You might gain lifelong memories and fun experiences.

3. Have fun and enjoy the experience. Network, attend after-work events, participate in activities, and take it easy. Share your experiences with friends and colleagues. The tasks might be challenging, but you're not alone.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, and best of luck in the future!
